The Building and Zoning Department guides property owners, developers and builders in subdivisions, land development and construction that meets the procedures, regulations and ordinances set forth by the Township Supervisors.
This office should be your first stop when planning new construction or to secure a building permit for an addition or improvement to an existing residential or commercial structure.
Code Enforcement
The Cecil Township Supervisors adopted the 2009 editions of the International Building Code (IBC) and the International Residential Code (IRC). For property maintenance, the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code has been adopted.
The Codes are designed to promote the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of Cecil Township, while at the same time regulating the design, construction, alteration, demolition, extension, repair and removal of all buildings, homes and structures.
All Landlords Must Report Tenants
Cecil Township code states, "Any person owning property which is rented to one or more persons for residential purposes who willingly or negligently fail to submit tenant lists as required shall be liable for various penalties."
Cecil Township wishes to remind landlords to provide a list of tenants to the township before March 31st and again before September 30th of each year. Change of Owner/Occupant Registration forms (PDF) are available online, at the township building, or by calling 724-745-2227.
